Skinny Margarita

Description

Skinny margarita with blanco tequila, fresh lime, orange juice, and agave. From Olivia at Flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

One drink

  • 2 ounces (60ml) blanco tequila
  • 1 1/2 ounces (45ml) fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce (30ml) fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 ounce (15ml) agave nectar, or to taste
  • Ice
  • Kosher salt and a lime wheel, for the glass

Pitcher (8 drinks)

  • 2 cups (480ml) blanco tequila
  • 1 1/2 cups (360ml) fresh lime juice
  • 1 cup (240ml) fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) agave nectar

Instructions

  1. Salt the rim of a rocks glass if you want it: rub a lime wedge on the rim and dip in kosher salt. Fill the glass with ice.
  2. Add tequila, lime, orange, and agave to a shaker with ice. Shake 12 to 15 seconds until the shaker is very cold.
  3. Strain over the fresh ice. Taste: if it is sharp, add a bar spoon of agave; if it is flat, add a squeeze of lime.
  4. Garnish with a lime wheel. For a pitcher, stir the four liquids and keep cold. Shake or stir each serving over ice — do not add ice to the jug.

Notes

Fresh lime is the drink. Bottled lime makes it taste like mix. Silver tequila stays clean; reposado is a different flavor. The blue margarita is the curaçao version, not a substitute for this ratio.
